Emma Lindegaard

Emma is a self-taught ceramic artist working from her home studio in Waylyup/Fremantle. Her objects are built entirely by hand, using the coiling method and minimal tools over multiple days, allowing space for spontaneity, intuition, and experimentation to inform the final piece. As a result, each work is a unique expression, often led by exploration of negative space, organic curves, and clean lines.

On what she does…

I works across multiple mediums; using clay, flowers, props, objects and food, to create Long Table Gatherings for intimate events, contemporary Food Tablescapes and Ceramic Objects.

On her daily rituals…

I started swimming each morning in the ocean as of last Winter. This is now a must for me each morning, to clear my head & connect with nature before starting my day in the studio. After my swim I rug up and sit in meditation on my favourite rock with a flask of cacao. It really brings me so much joy.

where she draws inspiration from…

A combination of solo walks near bodies of water, visiting local exhibitions, re-visiting works of my hero’s (Barbara Hepworth, Isamu Noguchi, Ruth Asawa, Constantin Brâncuși, Hans Arp) & camping trips to take in new landscapes.

Rituals to rejuvenate...

A warm bath followed by some yoga at the end of a long day always helps settle my nervous system and support my body for the week ahead. I’m in love with my acupressure mat at the moment and normally lay on this if I need a little extra self care. Nourishing meals throughout the day are a given.

Rituals for productivity & organisation

Vision boards always help. When I’m feeling stuck creatively I normally print out some images of what’s currently inspiring me, sit on the floor and cut and paste on a big piece of board followed by some little notes of affirmation, reminding me to trust the process.

On her favourite memory…

Balmy Sunday evenings at home with my family as a child. Dinner parties whether it be with friends or just our little family were always a big occasion. The smell of curry simmering away on the stovetop, my dad setting the table with our finest china & silverware, illuminating the night with candles, Sade record blasting in the background.

Rituals for creativity & inspiration…

To start my day in the studio I normally open my windows to let in some natural light and fresh air, light my favourite incense and pop on whatever music I’m feeling that day. I’ll either do some visual research or just start wedging a ball of clay and let my intuition guide me.
